Since I've been active with Peter for more than one year without interrupti=

I'd say that it's not that simple.

As I see it, Kalyxo could be subdivided in several parts.

1) Kalyxo : the software projects
Some software came from what we have done in the Kalyxo project. Do you=20
remember the early stages? Some software came from us. And I discussed with=
=20
Riddell who is working on kubuntu. There's a need for Kapture for example,=
=20
and it could improve any Debian flavor.

2) Kalyxo : the packaging "school"
Some people learnt how to package for Debian efficiently thanks to us, some=
=20
other improved their work. The results? Some of those packages are now in=20
Debian proper, some others are in Kubuntu.

3) Kalyxo : the distribution
We worked on it. And we're even able to produce a full install CD with=20
debian-installer preseeding right now. The problem? We don't want to make=20
another ubuntu which is just yet another Debian fork (despite their claims.=
=2E.=20
and even if this fork has more respect for its upstream). So the natural wa=
y=20
is to become a Custom Debian Distribution (CDD) which let us tied to Debian=
=20
release cycle... sadly, this release cycle is a bit messy right now.

So no, I won't drop Kalyxo. (1) and (2) are important, even if they are not=
 so=20
valuable on a corporate level. They allow to improve both the Debian  and t=
he=20
KDE communities... And we have been fool to let them too much apart.

Of course (3) could be dropped in favor of something currently more "hype".=
=2E.=20
but maybe it'll be only temporary. If Debian has a clearer policy about CDD=
=20
this goal could become easier to reach. Only time will tell...

But in the long run, going the CDD way is much more valuable than a fork. I=
=20
guess that the people still involved in kalyxo (the ones knowing that=20
kde-debian[-devel] are not relevant anymore, the ones silently doing the=20
dirty work, the ones trying to make something happen without even a build=20
server...) won't drop it for sure. But I hope that they'll invest more time=
=20
into (1) and (2) again... (3) can wait since the advertising goes to kubunt=
u=20
recently.

I fully agree... They stopped at the metapackages stage and never gave=20
something useful to the community.
