KDE 3.4.1 on Sid / KMenu problem

Hi there

As a good KDE enthusiast, last night I updated my Sid install from
3.4.0 to 3.4.1 with the new Alioth packages (apt-get install kdebase
kdeadmin kdenetwork kdemultimeda kdegames kdepim).

The biggest issue I experienced so far is, all the apps in KMenu are
gone. I only get the 4 "service" menus (Preferences, Quick Browser,
etc). I tried:

1) update-menus
2) update-menus as root
3) removed ~/.kde

still no luck.=20

any idea on how to fix this?
