Hello everybody, Kalyxo was near stalled for a while... But I'm coming with very good news! Some of us have worked really hard to get some things into shape, I'm going to introduce the results of those efforts. We now own a specific Kalyxo archive for our Debian packages! We had some troubles to have it in shape but except the usual glitches it should work almost perfectly. We use debpool to manage it, and you can already find some packages in there. This announce is just in time, since I noticed people hoping for a central package repository. Now it's there, just use it. We are waiting for news from people already having personal repository wishing to merge with Kalyxo. Please note that we modified our focus a bit, we'll work for desktop computers, not only enterprise desktop computers... This explains why some packages you'll find in the repository are not really for professional needs. We hope to make the project more popular by this focus shift and gain even more quality packages of KDE applications for Debian. Since this repository exists and is announced as you read this, there's no more excuse for duplication of efforts! ;-) The second important point is the improvement of the Kalyxo website. It's based on TWiki, and Peter Rockai (mornfall) has done an awesome work to improve both look and content. Please go there to see it: http://www.kalyxo.org/twiki/ You'll find informations of application developed, or packages needed, etc. In particular for packagers, there's a packaging policy: http://www.kalyxo.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/PackagingPolicy This policy is not set in stone, and can surely be improved, but it's a good start point for packagers. The last point, is the revival of inhouse development. Kapture got recently updated and is in continuous progress. KDebconf got a new maintainer. And a new graphic tool to eases packaging for debian will soon be created. Is it necessary to emphasize that we are still open to contributors? Feel free to contact us if you are interested in packaging, coding or writing to the wiki. We hope to come back soon with a nice, friendly TODO list, hopefully listing an adequate and satisfying job for every interested contributor.
