double-sized pixel icons?

hi all the icons control panel offers a double sized pixel icons. is this feature still needed? i tried it tonight and few if any kde4 apps work properly with it, and it seems to me that one can simply make the icons .. well .. bigger? should this feature remain? pls CC as i'm not sub'd to this list. thanks =) -- Aaron J.
