Bug ID: 523891
Summary: KHelpCenter: Dark theme rendering bug in HTML/DocBook
view (black text on black background in Glossary)
Classification: Applications
Product: khelpcenter
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When using KDE Plasma in Dark Mode, the right pane (QtWebEngine container) in
khelpcenter fails to apply proper CSS contrast inversion to local HTML/DocBook
files (e.g. khelpcenter/glossary/index.docbook and kde-default.css). When
clicking a glossary term, the view briefly flashes white and then turns
completely black, rendering the text invisible (black-on-black).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Enable system-wide Dark Mode in KDE Plasma (Breeze Dark).
Open khelpcenter.
Navigate to the Glossary section on the left sidebar.
Click on any entry (e.g. Git, KDE, Qt).
OBSERVED RESULT
The right document pane flashes briefly with white background/black text, then
immediately switches to a solid #000000 background without updating the text
color to white/light grey. The page content becomes unreadable.
EXPECTED RESULT
The document pane should either render readable light text on a dark background
in accordance with the system palette, or maintain sufficient contrast for the
HTML text.
