[kwin] [Bug 523450] Dead key composition fails when the dead key is pressed before the preceding key is released

For anyone hitting this: I can confirm the workaround from bug 520344 
comment #1 also resolves it here — System Settings -> Keyboard -> Virtual
Keyboard -> set to "None".

However, the trigger differs from bug 520344 (which was caused by applications
sending a surrounding_text change event during composition): mine reproduces
via physically overlapping key press/release timing, independent of the
application used (see STEPS TO REPRODUCE above).

Since bug 520344 is already RESOLVED FIXED and my trigger condition may not be
the one that was addressed, I'm leaving this report open rather than marking it
as a duplicate myself. Linked via See Also for reference:
