I have found the origin of that:

my custom icon was a rectangle and this new kirigami version will convert any
retctangle icon into a square icon. I dont know if this will be a permanent
feature, so, I inserted spaces to convert my custom icon into a square icon and
there are no more issues.

Im not sure if this new feature was desirable or not.
