            Bug ID: 524396
Summary: Feature Request: Native single-window mirroring to
                    secondary display
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: multi-screen
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY / USE CASE
A native KWin feature to mirror ONLY a specific window (e.g. a game) to a
secondary screen/TV, keeping overlays like PiP videos or Alt-Tab menus hidden
from the TV.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect a secondary display (TV).
2. Open a game on the primary display.
3. Open a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) video on top of the game.
4. Try to output only the game window to the TV.

OBSERVED RESULT
Standard display duplicating (mirroring) copies all pixels from screen 1 to
screen 2, showing the PiP video and Alt-Tab overlays on the TV.

EXPECTED RESULT
An option in KWin (e.g., window titlebar -> "Project Window to Screen 2") to
project only the game window in fullscreen to the secondary display, ignoring
primary display overlays.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux / Wayland

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Currently requires third-party tools like OBS Studio (PipeWire Window Capture)
or wl-mirror. A native KWin solution would be much more resource-efficient.
