Bug ID: 524403
Summary: Connectivity report doesn't report 5G correctly
Classification: Applications
Product: kdeconnect
Version First 26.04.3
Reported In:
Platform: NixOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: common
Assignee: [email protected]

Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When an Android phone is connected to 5G, the Connectivity report plugin in the
desktop app reports the last connectivity type, which isn't 5G, instead of 5G.
I.e. if the phone first connects to EDGE, EDGE is reported, if it then
reconnects to 5G, EDGE remains reported. If it connects to 4G, 4G is reported,
when it reconnects to 5G, 4G is still reported. The connectivity strength does
update to the correct current strength, even though the type is wrong.
This reporting is consistently wrong in the kdeconnect-indicator and in dbus
(queried via qdbus).
I am not sure whether the issue is on the sending side (Android) or the
receiving side (Linux desktop).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect 5G-enabled Android phone to network type other than 5G, e.g. EDGE.
2. Connect the phone to 5G.
OBSERVED RESULT
Connectivity report plugin on Desktop still reports the previous connection
type, e.g. EDGE.
EXPECTED RESULT
Connectivity report plugin correctly reports 5G.
