With some work on KQuickImageEditor, perhaps it could.

I do intend to find a solution. I think there is another open bug report about
what you're asking for. I'll consolidate the bug reports sometime. For now,
there is no timeline for when it will be fixed, but I  should probably make
time for it after my current major project for KQuickImageEditor is finished
(color adjustment API for Koko-Gwenview feature parity). Maybe somewhere in the
next few weeks.
