That wasn't obvious to me, I didn't attempt that. 
The play/prev/next controls are displayed already, why not the volume?
Personally I would prefer a number-based control, like 50%, 100%, 25% instead
of a bar, or both.

Also, I think the lockscreen should be more powerful, and more configurable, it
should allow this and more, at least regarding media controls. The lockscreen
is a mode we can use to allow media control while locking away the rest of the
computer. I've tried to make my own custom lockscreen to incorporate this and
other features but it's a mess in nixos.
