Bug ID: 524428
Summary: Switching between desktop and folder view and then
back requires a plasmashell restart and misplaces
other containments' panels
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.7.80
Reported In:
Platform: KDE Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Keywords: regression
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Containment
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
This is a somewhat complex bug, but very disruptive when it happens and you
haven't yet figured out what's going on or how to recover.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have two screens
2. Put any kind of panel on the primary screen, and a different panel (again,
any kind) on the secondary screen
3. Unplug the secondary screen
4. Right-click the desktop of the remaining screen > Desktop & Wallpaper
5. Switch to Desktop view > click OK
6. Right-click the desktop again > Desktop & Wallpaper
7. Switch to folder view > click OK
8. FIRST BUG: Desktop is still in desktop view
9. Restart plasmashell with `systemctl restart --user
plasma-plasmashell.service`
10. SECOND BUG: Desktop is in folder view now, but the other screen's
containment's panel is now on this screen's containment
With these steps, the issue is 100% reproducible for me.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
To recover, I have to use the "Manage Desktops & Panels" window to move the
secondary panel back to the disabled screen's containment.
This appears to be a regression in git master; it did not happen a few months
ago.
