See if you can identify what you just did, or what things just changed on your
system. For example: the panel won't auto-hide if an app is in the "needs
attention" state (signified with an orange  background, at least in the Breeze
Plasma theme). Telegram Desktop is known to enter this state on every message,
unless you turn that off in the settings.
