Also interesting to know that we're in the process of merging with the
debian-edu project. International support in Skolelinux is building
(currently we support 14 languages, and 19 locales :-), with more and more
non-norwegians getting involved with the development.

even better we're a CDD in development[1], a high-level overview of the
Skolelinux setup is found in [2] (available in da, de, en, nl, nb, and
pt_BR versions).

and so do all default Skolelinux installs :-)

Skolelinux currently uses KDE 2.2 by default (as we take stable as a base),
GNOME isn't included on the install-CD (though available from any
Debian-mirror). We don't use backports unless absolutely necessary to avoid
having to support the packages directly (as opposed of getting this from
Debian-proper for free). Support for newer versions of KDE on stable could
be another point of cooperation
The live-cd's can be found at [3].

primary person to talk to regarding the LDAP work is Andreas Schuldei
(andreas @ skolelinux no).
There will probably be a LDAP-BOF at FreeEDEM (21-22 february in Brussels,
next to FOSDEM), with (at least) people from Skolelinux, SUSE school server
(1 of the developers already agreed to come), any chance that any of you
would be
able to make it?

yep, especially in Norway and Germany (growing *fast* with respect to
Skolelinux) there's a fair number of rollouts. An incomplete list of
Norwegian schools using Skolelinux can be found at [4].
the german group has started working on formal qualityManagement documents
(see [5]), with a first draft of a requirements Specification ready.

that would be great :-)
