In other words, Kate does not show "[modified]" in the title bar, does not show the disk icons and does not allow me to save the document. Even if I make some normal editing modifications after spell checking, Kate still does not consider the document modified. A workaround is to use "Save as" and overwrite the existing document. This also fixes the modification checking for normal editing: any changes made after "Save as" mark the document as modified like usual. The bug occurs on a per-document basis: if multiple documents are open, only the document on which spell checking was performed is affected by the bug.
