As said otherwhere in this tread: I do not think we should recycle bad GUI
designs, just because we grew accustomed to them.

IMHO, we should much rather start a FAQ in the manual, we could put "Why
doesen't Kate have a tab bar?" as FAQ #1;)

I am normally ready to spend time implementing wished features, but for this
one I simply can't see that it could be made in a resonably well working way.

There are allready so many features/behaviours in Kate that needs to be fixed,
including the IDEAl mode (buggy, crashy, weird, so far) and the behaviour of
the tool views in "classic" mode (confusing, inconsistent) that adding
another not well defined metafor would be a bad damage.

I know that few users complain about those issues, my guess is that they avoid
interacting with those interfaces because they do not work well, and then
demand tab bars because they think that is good because they had that in
windows. I'd much rather we identified the problems with the kdockwindow
system and come up with solutions. Same for the IDEAl thing.
