kbabel problems

I still have problems with kbabel, but it is not so easy to write a bug report 
because what happens is that the program just disappears without saying or 
doing anything, and I am not quite sure what i am supposed to have done. I 
know this is not too helpful but anyway. Here is a little bit of description 
of what I have done.

I am running fedora core 2, keeping it updated with the apt-get repository 
kde-redhat. That does not work too well, the kbabel that comes with kde 3.3 I 
am not able to use at all. I can not execute the command kbabel file.po on 
any file without crashing.

So I checkout kdesdk in the KDE_3_3_BRANCH compile it and run it. This works a 
lot better, but unfortunately the program sometimes simply evaporates without 
producing the usual crash screen or anything. I don't know how to write a bug 
report about that
