Bug 447119 is really a bundle, a collection references to bugs in Baloo and
Dolphin's internal search. Each have their curious and annoying behaviours.
Have you hit problems with Baloo or Dolphin's own search?
I think if the issue is that Baloo does silently follow symlinks to different
disks or folders outside your home directory, then the option is to explicitly
include the folder you want to index in the "System Settings > File Search".
Otherwise best open a new bug with the description of the trouble you are
having and we can pin it down.
