Are you suggesting the detached terminal still be a dolphin dependent windo=
w ?
Or a full fledged konsole window ? (that would be impossible)

What should happen when the user opens a different folder in dolphin, should
the terminal window be kept in sync.

It seems to me, you are expecting too much of dolphin terminal, if you need
very long running tasks in a terminal, using a real emulator terminal would=
 be
the best way to go.
We have a feature to copy to clipboard the current path to easily paste it
outside of dolphin.
