I'm not using home on NFS, I'm using only an address book resource stored on NFS, as well as the default resource on the local file system.

And it's not _that_ slow, although it occasionally has hangups. That's not a reason to get files overwritten though.

I use kmail, korganizer and the korgac alarm daemon, and kopete standalone.
