[Bug 50462] mail is permanently lost if disk is full

Moreover, when a new index file is rebuilt, data from the former index file are lost and depending of the amount of mail, this can be a lot of data.
For different reasons, I choose to delete mails on POP3 servers only after 7 days (one of the reason is because of this bug, another is to be able to reply even when I can only connect from a public computer though I downloaded mails a few days ago). When index file is rebuilt, all info such as if a mail as been reply or not are lost. And mails are downloaded again which lead to duplicate mails. Not so easy to sort when there are several hundreds.
