Doesn't work for me, KMail 1.9.7 (Using KDE 3.5.7-0.1.fc7 Fedora)

I usually use English, but sometimes French. In Konqueror (e.g. typing this) if I choose Settings -> Configure Spell Checking and change the dictionary to French, many words are highlighted red. If I change it back to English, they turn white -- this is what I expect.

In KMail while composing an email, I use Settings -> Spellchecker and select French but the auto spell check is still in English (lots of red words like 'bonjour'). If I quit and reload KMail (actually Kontact) the autospellcheck is then in French.

I've just noticed that changing the dictionary from the KMail dialog affects this text area in Konqueror, interesting feature!
