Italian translation

I would like to contribute to the italian translation of KnowIt:
=2D - has anybody already started to work on it?
=2D - how fast do I have to be? how often new versions are put out?
=2D - it would be the first time I translate a software and I am not a=20
programmer. I tried to use Kbabel and I find it quite simple. Any=20
suggestions?
