I hope I never said that as it isn't true. Surface charts, for example, aren't implemented in KD Chart. Then gantt charts are there (as KD Gantt is now included in KD Chart), but need a bit of work to integrate. I think the best solution is to show a nice message saying "This chart type is unsupported. If you leave it as is, it will not be changed when you save this document. Otherwise bla bla..", as you suggested. Though I will commit a patch for now that simply falls back to a bar chart which is fairly simple to do. It already does that, but not in the right way.
