Hello Daniel,
I am just testing this again myself.
It seems kolab_user_filter is fine to be enabled again, kolab lm works
with and without it.

I noticed that I do have problems creating mailboxes, when already
several domains exist.
I reported this bug https://issues.kolab.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2306 with
a solution.

Now the mailbox gets created.
