Kiosk mode and popups

I am using konq/e in kiosk mode.  Whenever there is a javascript popup, 
konq/e 'freezes' - I imagine it has poped up the window, but nothing 
happens on screen, so it hangs waiting for user input....

ISTR some conversation here about enabling popups or window.open using 
kiosk mode, but I can't find it in my archives....

What I would like to do is pop up a notice - something requiring no 
response from the user - that basically says "please wait, generating 
preview" and then goes away when the preview is ready.

Any suggestions?  How do I enable window.open in konq/e?  Can it be done?

I've tried playing with the various

[Java/JavaScript Settings]
WindowOpenPolicy=0

settings, and from the source the above should allow everything, but 
still no popups....
