configure error on konqueror/Embedded

Hi, I want to port konqueror /Embedded to mips platform. when I use " ./configure --prefix=/root/konqueror-mips/build --host=mips-linux --target=mips-linux --disable-debug --enable-qt-embedded --enable-embedded --enable-cgi --with-qt-dir=$QTEDIR --with-qt-includes=$QTEDIR/include --with-qt-libraries=$QTEDIR/lib --disable-mt " to configure it, I got this error:

checking for libz... configure: error: not found.
          Possibly configure picks up an outdated version
          installed by XFree86. Remove it from your system.

          Check your installation and look into config.log

I go to /usr/X11R6/lib but find nothing about libz, then I download the newest zlib and install it, but the error still turns up. What should I do next? Please give me a hand , thanks in advance!
