Problem with main window

I am running redhat 7.3 which comes with kde 3. the cvs kpovmodeler 
configures and compiles fine. The first time I ran it, everything ran 
fine... except for the button toolbars. The button toolbars had the buttons, 
but they didn't have icons. When I closed and restarted kpovmodeler the 
toolbars weren't there anymore, and I couldn't figure out how to get them 
back. I tried it with the tgz that was put on the downloads page, and it 
hade the same problem. Could anyone help me? thanks.
