Hi, You're SO right Kevin, I deal with 3D for Building Architecture conception & realisation and an efficient 2D module in a 3D soft is a feature that changes your life in this field. As an example, importing EPS format should be a GREAT IMPROVEMENT for me, friends working on AutoCad could export their drafts in EPS, and I would extrude the 2D shapes to create walls... Some has discussed usability, animation,... points. Please consider having a glimpse at Form*Z wich, from my point of view, has one of the more interesting approach of 3D software design, all the more for technical works. It's UI has nothing to do with Maya's or 3Ds's ones but is really efficient. You select your modelling tools by a combination of subtools, wich make the use of Form*Z really flexible once you have understood this concept. Aside, the software is composed of two "superblocks" one for 3D stuff and another for 2D called "Draft" wich is really really usefull. This could helps for all 2D shapes drawing like profiles and paths for revolution and extrusion, camera or objects movements... If interested, I can provide (but never tell this to anyone ;-) ) a copy of this software to those of you interested in trying it.
