Hi!

The directory where the program gets installed can be modified through

./configure --prefix=<PATH>

In your case (Mandrake 9.0 if I remember correctly), KDE is installed in /usr, 
so you'll have to use the following command:

./configure --prefix=/usr

Then you can make;make install
