  So if XDG_CONFIG_DIRS contains additional locations, this will not work?
  
  e.g. in Kubuntu we set up: XDG_CONFIG_DIRS="$XDG_CONFIG_DIRS:/usr/share/kubuntu-default-settings/kf5-settings"
