Kate Editor Split View

Hello Team,

I've been reading through documentation for Kate's Split View to see if 
I can alter a certain behavior but cannot find the answer.
Whenever I launch Kate, the application defaults to Split View. I 
manually close the inactive view each time as 90% of the time I prefer 
viewing non-split. How can I configure Kate to not default to opening in 
split view?
