autosave on .go file write

i have been trying a number of things in order to have Kate auto-format my
Go source files whenever i save them. this used to work on an older version
of linix, but alas no longer.

i have tried to configure my LSP client for go to do this but it didn't
work.

can someone suggest a way to do this, please?
