In principle tend to agree. I prefer email as well. A lot.

However I see there is really not much traffic and I did not use this 
mailing list a lot, quite the contrary. And especially in case there is a 
lot of moderation effort for the list, I understand a decision to close 
it. I am not willing to demand someone to put that burden onto themselves 
for little gain.
