fish protocol

I'm using Quanta 3.5.9 on KDE3.5.10 (Debian Lenny x86_64). I cannot connect to 
my server using the fish protocol, but I can with Konqueror.
My server is set up to not accept passwords for ssh- authentication is through 
public/private keys.

I'm sure it is something basic that I am forgetting, but it's driving me 
crazy.
