I have a separate partition just for Slackware 12 and Quanta that 
works.  Or I use Amaya or Gvim.

IMO it seems some bad decisions were made. I favor breaking Quantas 
out as a separate program.  In the words of an old IBM instructor 
K.I.S.S. or "Keep it simple stupid."
