I was using jEdit ("the programmer's editor") and the many contributed
plug-ins for quite a long time before incorporating Quanta+ into my routine.
While Quanta+ is now definitely my favorite *environment*, certain
application-specific capabilities afforded by jEdit are robust and highly
polished. The thought of my attempting to replicate any of these capabilities
in Quanta+ is pretty daunting and, of course, there are time and productivity
constraints too.
Sorry if my modest programming skills are showing, but how difficult would it
be to incorporate jEdit into Quanta+ as an alternate text editor? It really
does have an astonishing array of easily installed plug-ins. If you haven't
taken the opportunity to check it out, if nothing else you could use it as
a 'road map' or 'yardstick' vis a vis finding/creating comparable
capabilities for Kate.

Carl
