Hi

I've noticed an increase in CPU usage in 3.5.7 (50 - 1005%) and random
crashes.

What i have noticed is that my CPU fan blows hard when and just after Quanta
starting up. My CPU fan hardly ever blows, the only other apps that cause my
CPU fan to blow are Google Earth client and the Second Life client.
(1.6GhzPentium M and
1.2Gig RAM). Throughout the day the CPU fan will blow alerting me that
Quanta is doing "something".
An strace on the pid shows that Quanta is reading the first line or so of
files in the project. I can't be more specific at the moment so I'll find
some time to do some straces and attach them to a bug report.

I'd like to know how to turn off this parsing of files that occurs as shown
in the strace. It doesn't seem a useful thing - don't I just need a file
representation in the project view and any parsing needed can happen when
the file is opened?
I have tried turning off all the things in Quanta that I don't need like CVS
plugins etc but this doesn't affect CPU usage. Unfortunately it's starting
to affect my enjoyment of using Quanta for web development and lately I've
been looking at Kdevelop and Kate as alternatives but thjey don't have the
Project handling and file tree view I like about Quanta.

I'll see what the next strace turns up and start debugging.

Thanks
James
