Issues with fish kioslave

Hello list!

I'm having an issue with the fish kioslave on certain servers.  I've 
checked through the list archives and the bug tracker and haven't found 
this problem solved, though I did see a mention of it in an earlier list 
discussion.

I make heavy use of the "top folder" feature in Quanta.  When I can I 
use fish:// rather than ftp:// for security purposes and because I often 
find it to be faster.  My normal process for creating a new top folder 
for a new server is to put in a URL like this:
fish://user@domain
 From there I can browse to the directory I need and create my top 
folder.  Usually it's not a problem, but on some servers (usually cPanel 
servers) I get dumped into the root of the server and I can't go 
anywhere without "permission denied" errors.  The server won't let me 
access /home, so I can't access /home/user/.  Sometimes I just get 
"can't open folder" and I don't see anything listed.

I had both of those things happen to me this morning.  On one server I 
saw the contents of the / directory (bin,boot,dev,etc,etc).  On the 
other server I got the error message "Could not enter folder 
fish://user@server:port/.  The second server uses a non-standard port, 
which could be part of the problem, but I've been able to use 
non-standard ports with that same syntax before.  In both cases, I 
copied the URL and plugged it into Konqueror and it loaded fine.  
Konqueror drops me into the user's home directory.

I'm currently running the latest and greatest Kubuntu on my laptop, 
Quanta version 3.5.8.  This issue is also present on my desktop box, 
which runs Kubuntu 7.04 (haven't upgraded yet) and a slightly older 
version.  I know this has been an issue for at least 18 months or so at 
this point.

I'm hopeful that I'm just doing something wrong here.  I would be more 
than happy to review my settings or try something new if anyone has 
suggestions or file a bug report if necessary.  For now I'm back off to 
work.  Thanks for any help you can offer!
