Tagging faces in long lists freezes digiKam 8.3.0

I have about 140K faces in /People/Unknown on digiKam 8.3.0 on Windows 10
using MySQL Internal (MariaDB, QMYSQL). When I tag a face from the long
unknown faces list, digiKam freezes for about half a minute, probably
rebuilding the whole list. I think there should be some kind of buffer so
that it won't have to work on the whole list. Are there any plans to fix
this?
