Is there any way to see the filename in preview mode?

As per the subject, is there any way to see the filename when in
preview mode?  I often want to know it when, for example, referring to
a picture that I have attached to an E-Mail.  As it is I have to
switch back to thumbnail mode to see the filenames and then also have
to make sure I'm referring to the the picture I want.

It would be really handy if the filename was displayed somewhere in
preview mode. Is it possible? Am I missing some obvious configuration
setting?
