I've just started playing with this and finding the same behaviour. I started with a full scan on all cores on my 120K+ database and left it for a few days. This reported about 40% complete. So I started looking at the other options and I'm finding the same as you. If anything progress seems slower when in Non-Assigned and Update mode but it of course difficult to be objective.
