Duplicate place tags

I geotag my pictures outside of digiKam. Inside digiKam, I have tags for 
auto, People, and Places. DigiKam does a great job of reverse geocoding 
the photos, I assume automatically, putting place names under the Places 
tag. However, for some pictures it also puts the place names outside the 
Places tag, at the same level as auto, People, and Places. Is there any 
way to suppress this latter behavior? Thanks.
