This was mentioned in another thread, but there wasn't a great deal of response there so here it is again with a better title. Is it 'KDE Platform' or 'KDE Development Platform'? Here are my thoughts: - The original branding proposal chosen at the sprint was 'KDE Platform' - I prefer it - It's shorter (2 v 6 syllables) - It makes it easier to use in a context that isn't just for developers - i.e. 'this is the first Platform 4 port of K3B'. The alternative 'this is the first Development Platform 4 port of K3B' could imply this is the first development release of K3B building on Platform 4. There's a current example in the Dot queue (not officially published yet, so don't link to it outside the mailing list): http://dot.kde.org/2010/08/16/kmymoney-team-announces-first-development- platform-4-release This started off with 'Platform 4' but another editor (reasonably) changed it to 'Development Platform 4' which imho, makes it all sound a bit tortuous. So really, I don't massively mind either way, but I'd like us to pick one before that article goes live on Monday. The one place that 'Developer Platform' has really appeared prominently is on the KDE www homepage. I'd suggest if we go for KDE Platform then we change that menu header to 'Development'. It also sits better with the other menu headings that are not products but descriptions: workspaces, applications, development.
