A booklet about KDE Applications and KDE in general in any detail
would be called a "book". The booklet is a glimpse at KDE. The booklet
is a marketing piece, a large brochure.

Yes. If more people really knew what KDE offered, there would be more
KDE users. KDE does not have the big marketing budgets of proprietary
companies.

Yes, with emphasis on "I don't know what". That is, people will be
attracted subjectively, and will want analytical mindholds to justify
their subjectivity.

Commonplace is okay. They are pictures for subjective consideration
and proof for the left brain. "This isn't just a fancy new thing. See
I can send email too. And my calendar and tasks are right there, just
like Brand X Personal Information Manager."

However, you make a good point here...that screenshots can be kinda
boring. I think that it would be valuable to the booklet for an artist
or graphic designer like Nuno to suggest graphical elements that
support "something new from KDE".

These graphics could still be screenshots, but artistically done. For
example, a screenshot of Dolphin and an explanation of file management
is dull. A screenshot of Dolphin overlaid with a magnified view of the
Information for a particular file would be interesting (at least to
some), and hints at some of the underlying KDE magic.

In my view, there is no "the difference". There are many differences
and many more opinions about differences. For example, I like the
minimal window decorations and the new understated System Tray icons;
there are certainly other people who don't notice, don't care or don't
like.

In short, the graphical elements appeal to the picture-book part of
the mind. They should support the overall message of the booklet.
Someone who is skilled in graphical appeal would be valuable.
