Re: Promo booklet status?

Hi,

Me and Jenny (KDE e.V. interns) have read the KDE promo booklet (shared
Google doc) and came to conclusion, that this version of booklet is pretty
nice and reader-friendly :) We like that it is written in pleasant style,
presents and describes KDE software comprehensibly for people new to KDE. In
order to contribute to the booklet, we would like to give a feedback - what
can be done better or what makes it easier for 'KDE consumers' to understand
and learn more about KDE :)

What to correct or change in the KDE promo booklet?

1.Layout:

- text in boxes should match or be related to the content nearby (on the
same page); for example on page 4 there is an info about Choqok, and 'Tips &
Tricks' concerning Choqok (from page 5) should be on the same page 4.
Another example: Blogilo is presented on the page 5, and 'Tips & Tricks'
about Blogilo are two pages hereafter. It is confusing and not convenient to
come back to the topic after you started reading about something else (other
applications).

- captions for all pictures - we want to know what the pictures present,
because sometimes it is not clear. Caption helps draw attention to something
in the picture that is not obvious & also helps identify the subject of the
picture.


2.Content:

- for the 'Tips & Tricks' on page 7, we would like to know the significance
of being able to preview a blog entry in Blogilo before publishing it. Such
feature can be found in many blogs, perhaps we should include special
feature of Blogilo which cannot be found in other blogs instead?

- on page 8 and 10 headings: 'Discover' and 'Have fun' should divide the
content 'Learn & Play".

- about page 9 (Marble): keep the information about Marble on one page.

- shorten information concerning widgets, description about configuration is
too detailed... can we also change an example picture of widget in the
booklet? This one (frame with tree picture) doesn't really appeal to me and
I don't know what kind of widget it actually is. Maybe we could use 'Weather
Forecast' or 'Calendar' or 'microblogging' widget screen shot as an example?

- as a newbie to KDE software, I would like to know more about The Plasma
Workspaces 'Activities' - it is really interesting, that you can have a
completely different Activity setup for computer at home or at work, but how
does it work exactly? Should I login/logout to different workspace? Explain
me, please!

- the text after 'Join the game' about KDE Teams - we could give a heading
like 'KDE TEAMS' and also to use the same (more organized) format of
subheadings like: 'The BugSquad Team', 'The Localization and Documentation
Team', 'The Marketing and Promo Team', etc.


3. Punctuation, some typos, abbreviations - we will fix them in GoogleDoc
KDE booklet directly in the doc. But there are some more errors:

- all applications and games, like: Kopete, Blogilo, KTorrent, Solitaire,
Krita, etc. should be highlighted in the text (use of bold font).

- inconsistent way of presenting links - sometimes it starts from
'http://.....',
sometimes url without it.


4. Other questions:

- what will be the size of brochure? A4 or A5?

helpful given the fact they are new to KDE : they are the targeted people
and it's always good to have a first feedback from the "customer" before
