Re: KDE Live CD/DVD

Thank you for all your responses. Actually I am subscribed to this list, so
I did get all your messages. I will answer you all by topic:

   1. Regarding basing the project on Archlinux instead of SUSE- I
   understood from the task description on Google-Melange that I do not have to
   use the existing project, which is as I understood meant
   for different purposes. Arch changes less upstream projects (actually, it
   merely makes changes at all), and suse changes many things, like icons. I am
   very familiar with arch (and not so familiar with openSUSE), and Archiso is
   a great tool to create Live CDs that are easy to maintain and update.
   2. CD or DVD- from all your responses I understand that you prefer one
   big image that contain as much of the KDE project as it can, without trying
   to fit on one CD. This decision is fine with me, and I will try to include
   as well Amarok and other things so it can be used to show most of the
   projects.
   3. I am sorry if my first message had the impression that there is no
   official live cd right now- it's good to know there is. Yet, I prefer basing
   this project on Archiso, as I wrote. I think you made it clear that this two
   Live CDs are meant for different purposes, and they don't compete each with
   the other.

I have another question: right now I included in the disc graphics drivers
that may not be open source. I don't know much about the legality
of redistributing them, but I am sure that they will make it much easier to
demo. What do you think? should I remove any non-free software, even
necessary proprietary drivers?

I know Sandro is the mentor for this task, but since I don't have any other
way to contact him (rather than email him privately or commenting on
Melange, which is a much slower way to get answers), I am publishing my
questions here. I think it's better for the project too, because I
can understand the needs better when I read all your comments.
