First of all, Happy New Year to everyone! So, now that's done, let's back to what really matters :-D 2011/1/1 Felix Michel <[email protected]> > Hi all, > > now we have a first draft of the promo booklet. > > Now I got some questions, suggestions and I call for help. > > I just have a minor issue with the Development chapter. It wasnt in the > table > of contents that's why the table of contents is not designed for more than > ten > entries. Is the devolpment part a chapter or is it part of the contribute > chapter? In this version i left the Development chapter aside. > Yes I think you can include that part in the "Contribute chapter" as a subpart like "Get Involved" right after the "KDE teams" pages. I think it was designed to be like this. > So, for the booklet. > > We need: > > - better Screenshots > - Sidebar content for the Enjoy part (e.g. Tips & Tricks) and Workspaces > part > - A Cover > Yes, I think we should maybe send a mail to the kde-artist mailing list to ask for their help on the cover and the screenshots (btw it seems that you strangely scaled current screenshots because they are stretched in the vertical direction, but that's not a problem for the moment). I also think we can ask them some artwork to put in the booklet : some pages have no content in the sidebar and rather than always putting there a text, we can put some drawings like those you can see in the background of the last KDE quaterly report http://ev.kde.org/reports/ev-quarterly-2010Q3.pdf. It will make the booklet more "animated". If they don't have time to provide several artwork, we can also put some available artwork from Oxygen icons and things like that. What do you think of all this ? Could you read the booklet carefully, comment it and send it back to me or > upload it somewhere? It is really important to check the layout, the > content > and the arrangement of the content. If there is something you dislike I am > happy and willing to change it, just tell me where. > I didn't read all the text this time (I hope other people will) but here are my comments : - As I said pages with nothing in the sidebar feels too much empty. We will deal with that with some artwork or new texts. For some pages, you can also transfer some texts from a box to a sidebar when there is a box in the page and nothing in the sidebar : pages 12, 20, 21. - For the pages with "KDE teams boxes" in the Contribute chapter, I think we can do special pages for them. I mean no sidebar to use the full width, this way we can put all of them in the 2 facing pages (maybe with one different soft color for each ? Green tone ? otherwise it will be all grey...). Following the same idea, a special page for the "Links". I think it's better to have the description and the url on the same line (like what you did for the previous references) : it's easier to read (btw the previous text beginning with "We hope we enjoyed..." was written to be put just above these links in the same page). - Personally I would slightly lower the tone of boxes' color. These are already highlighted due to their shape/position, no need to reinforce that with a dark color. I have few other really small remarks that can wait some time : - check all application names to put them in bold (only once at the first appearance) - put links as links and not as text : if the booklet is also released as a pdf, it will be great to have real links you can click on. - put a caption for screenshots (as suggested by Agata and Jenny). Hope you like the work so far and keep in mind that it is a first draft. > Sure I love it! but you already know it ;-) Damien > > You can find the booklet here: > > www.tradukt.ch/kde_booklet.pdf > > cheers > > felix > > _______________________________________________ > This message is from the kde-promo mailing list. > > Visit https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-promo to unsubscribe, set > digest on or temporarily stop your subscription. > _______________________________________________ This message is from the kde-promo mailing list.
