Cool, maybe we start with the logo and then try and get whoever submits the best design to work on the other aspects too? Ok, we did something similar with making some 'powered by kde' type logos and we (I) made a few mistakes with that process. So, some things we need to do this time: - define guidelines of how the logo should be* (last time we did not and got a lot of unsuitable designs) - set up a way of collecting designs. last time we had a page on the wiki and everyone could see existing submissions. Is this good (can give people ideas) or bad (encourages variations on the same design/copying) ? An alternative is email - we could set up a GMail or similar account specifically for the purpose. - work out a judging panel, which should include at least Bogdan and one of our artists We also need someone to write a Dot article announcing the contest. Would anyone be interested in that? It can be quite short, maybe something like [1] * start of some guidelines: - must not include the Android or Qt logos or be confusingly similar - some kind of play on the idea of androids or robots is probably fine though - should not include any political imagery ;-) - should be scalable (i.e. we'll need an SVG version and it should work at lots of different sizes) [1] http://dot.kde.org/2010/05/12/being-kde Cheers, Stu -- Stuart Jarvis KDE Marketing Working Group, Promotion Team and KDE.News Experience Freedom with KDE http://www.kde.org/ _______________________________________________ This message is from the kde-promo mailing list.
