Re: Community blogging competition

Looks like there is no veto's against it, and only technical implementation
is what worries the most?

At this point it is hard to show any possible solution, but might come soon.

There was no outcome. And sadly (but needed) we decided to not setup

Its similar but not the same thing (like you can became user of the month by
helping on forums etc) :)

From the posts on planet it looks like your are strongly considering
WordPress for the job.

If so, I would seriously doubt if its a best way to have official pages (if
same instance used) mixed up with "guest" authors pages aggregated from the
web. Not only the amount of content (1000+ per year could be a good number),
many authors with just a few posts each might be difficult to manage, but
also taxonomies (tags, categories) might not match in this case, etc.

So it might be easier to bake an individual solution on popular framework,
like CakePHP (e.g. http://book.cakephp.org/view/1528/Blog covers 70% needed
code to start), or Zend. Using
OpenID<http://cakebaker.42dh.com/2008/02/06/new-version-of-the-openid-component/>for
user man agent avoids single-login-for-entire-kde.org-issue. Both
frameworks has many modules/plugins for the future needs. And assuming we
have html+css kde themed template it would be less than than a week to make
it working.

What're you thinking?
